REQUIEM TO GAIA - MUNDI I

Réquiem a Gaia - Mundi I
Mundi 1

In my artistic production, I always try to unite the reason to the feeling (basis of my creative process), to create a work that makes use of traditional techniques incorporated to elements of our current society and that establishes several metonymical relationships in order to provoke questions in the spectator. My objective is that he reaches his own conclusions on the approached theme through a subjective language. The outcome is the complicity or the denial; it doesn't matter, because both form a kind of involvement that turn back to the essence of what I try to transmit.

Since the 80s, the social, ecological and philosophical theme are a constant in my artistic production, as well as the incorporation of computers boards and other types of technological and electronic accessories representatives of the current society.

The series "Requiem to Gaia - Chief Seattle' Stigma " treats on the current situation of the environmental degradation in the planet provoked by the actions of the human being avid for an immediate enrichment. The inclusion to the painting of several elements of our daily technology has as intention to provoke philosophical reflections on the environmental quest related to the activities of mankind in the planet.

The whole series of works was accomplished in mixed technique: oil + computer pieces and several objects on wood. I used the oil paint technique; hand written texts and plastic film of PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) to create textures and peculiar visual effects that, compared to the other elements attached to the paintings, provoke the spectator's curiosity.

The painting Mundi I, was accomplished by the reutilization of many credit cards that represent the financial globalization which took over all the corners of the world and that stimulates the human being to think his the nature’s owner and that he can buy it and draw it out, doesn’t matter the environmental and social consequences that this attitude can cause.
It’s a proposal for reflection!
